IELTS Exam Pattern 
The syllabus of the IELTS exam is divided into four sections that is, the reading, listening, speaking and writing skill. Candidates will be marked separately in these four sections. Then, the total score will be presented in the IELTS result. The total score is the summation of the marks in these four sections. 
The details of the exam are given below: 

•    Listening
The time period for conducting the listening skill test is 30 minutes. The exam consists of four recorded monologues and conversations. 
•    Reading
The duration for examining the reading skill of the candidate is 60 minutes. Here, the examinee will be given three long passages. The passage ranges from descriptive to factual and analytical texts. Also, some non-verbal materials like charts, graphs, and diagrams are given. Looking at these, the candidate has to draw out inference and write in details. 
•    Writing
The time allotted for checking the writing skill of the candidate is 60 minutes. Candidates are asked to write on various topics as will be given in the question paper. The word limit ranges from 150 words. By reading the bar graphs, charts or diagrams, the candidate will have to illustrate it. Added to this, the candidate is asked to write a brief essay of 250 words on a given topic. 
•    Speaking
This is a face-to-face interview session carried for 10 – 15 minutes. The interviewing session includes short questions, structured discussions and asking the candidate to talk at length on a known topic. 

Score range in IELTS
